Being outside is what I’d assume being inside a microwave is like, and I don’t know if it’s just me, but it somehow got even worse this summer. To make matters worse, the AC is still broken in my house, and our basement flooded from a mechanical error, so to say we’re drowning in this summer heat is not even a metaphor. So, sadly, cooking and quality eating have been on the backburner this week. It’s been mostly takeout and quick sandwiches, which hasn’t been all that bad if I’m being honest. Living the DC metro area, there are a ton of options for takeout that I took for granted before moving to other states. DC is extremely diverse and with so many different cultures comes a plethora of authentic cuisine options. When I was in Vermont, it was hard to find great latin or thai food, two of my favorites. Sure, there was the neighborhood “Mexican” spot and the tried-and-true, no-frills “Chinese” takeout, but in Rockville there are a handful of reputable choices that fit the specific desire for Thai or Peruvian or Cantonese food.
