Hello! Happy New Year and welcome to the first week of your winter home delivery. We’ve got a nice assortment of produce assembled from growers in warmer zones as well as in our own backyard!
Seed catalogs are piled high on my desk with stack of notes as we are looking forward to our next growing season. I’m already planning our next Guitars & Goats Strawberry Festival at the farm this spring to give us a beacon of light this cold hard winter.
The hard freeze we are currently experiencing should be good for our vegetable beds at the farm, acting as a reset button which will give our plants a head start come the spring from pests and competitors. I’m also making my travel arrangements to spend about a week at the Mid-Atlantic Fruit & Vegetable Growers Conference coming up later this month. Here I will learn and compare notes with other farms to find out new and old growing techniques, varieties, and ideas to help keep us improving our own growing practices.
Have a great week everyone and enjoy.
