Farm Update: Memorial Day Weekend

The stands opening has signaled that summer had made its touchdown here in Maryland and we are ready for a busy and productive season ahead of us. The weather followed suit and warmed up like it should at this time of year, which made the plants at the farm feel right at home.  Our Norman’s greens are doing a great job of showing themselves off these days. The greens can take a bit more of the cool than the other crops, as you can see by their abundance. Those frosted nights combined with plenty of rain and the shining sun has given us these greens just what they need.

Our blackberries are really taking off and filling in beautifully. The strawberries are turning ripe and showing promise of being here soon. We may see them a slight bit later than originally expected because of the cold couple of weeks they just experienced, but there is no doubt that they will be even sweeter after the wait.
