Peaches A-plenty!

Many things are growing bountifully right now, and this is the best time to take advantage of the quality of this season’s produce. The peach farmers that we are sourcing from are experiencing heavy harvests of the summer’s tastiest yellow peaches, and as a result, the prices are also the lowest they’ve been so far. Using fresh ingredients to create preserves or freeze for later helps you enjoy these even during winter…

Peach tips:

To freeze peaches, peel and slice your peaches around the pit. Then, place in a Ziploc bag and lay flat on a tray to freeze for 5 hours before removing the tray. This step helps your peaches freeze evenly and so they do not form clumps.

Peach preserves like jams and canned peaches are another great way to enjoy this amazing fruit year-round.

Our any fruit jam (https://normansfarmmarket.com/any-berry-jam-no-pectin/) is a good and simple jam recipe to follow for short term use or long-term with a proper water bath canning method such as this one: https://www.freshpreserving.com/water-bath-canning.html

This is my favorite canned peaches method: https://www.sustainablecooks.com/canning-peaches/
